I’m taking this week off from book reviews to unwind and relax with family and friends…and to read, of course!
Instead, I thought I’d mention a couple pod cast episodes (and related books) I’ve been listening to that have been really inspiring for me and thought they might be for you as well.
- The Good Life Project by Jonathan Fields – I’ve listened to two incredibly inspiring pod cast episodes from this show:
- Susan David, PhD: “Emotional Agility” – both the podcast episode and the book are first rate. This is not about ignoring emotions or learning to accept less. Rather it’s about having the “emotional agility” to “unhook” from particularly intense situations, step back, reassess, and deal with whatever is at hand, whether that’s an unruly teenager, a difficult boss, or a major life change.
- Caroline Adams Miller : Author of “Getting Grit“, Caroline is one of the first-ever recipients of the Master of Applied Positive Psychology. She talks about the difference between “stupid grit” and “authentic grit”, how tragic events can be blessings in disguise, and how truly happy people strive for the kinds of goals that make you uncomfortable, because those are where reward is found.
So happy reading (or listening) as summer keeps flashing by, and I’ll be back next week with more book reviews.
