My favorite part of every year – my top picks for the best books I read over the past year. To me, the only good thing about winter weather is the excuse to stay by the fire and read more!
If you have read or do read some of these, please jump in and share your thoughts!
Simply click on the link to reach my review. Here they are, in no particular order:
- Number one read, without a doubt. Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
Motivating, soul searching, and downright inspiring, gift this to a woman in your life. She will thank you. And don’t forget to listen to Rachel’s pod cast “Rise” on your favorite pod cast app.
- Best biographical read. Victoria by Julia Baird
Whether you watched the PBS Victoria or not, this will challenge some long-held beliefs about a woman whose legacy has been proactively managed by her family and biographers, but what was she really like?
- Best hist fic. This Side of Murder by Anna Lee Huber.
First in the fantastic new WWI series introducing Verity Kent. Verity gets invited to a reunion of her late husband’s army unit but when accusations of treachery fly and the body count rises, Verity questions the man she loved so dearly. Total nail biter!
- For Those Who Can’t Wait for the Next Season of “The Crown”. Royal Sisters by A. Edwards
Elizabeth II and Margaret – two sisters who shared a close bond but couldn’t have been more different. With the shadow of Edward VII’s abdication still looming large, Margaret was not allowed to marry her love, the divorced Peter Townsend, even in an age when many within the church and government were themselves divorced. Thankfully, Harry and Meghan’s story has turned out much differently, but far too late for Margaret.
As always, thanks for stopping by. Wishing you the very best this holiday season and beyond. Happy reading!
